Our dear state, Anambra has produced eminent men that are taking over the world through their brands. Some of these brands started from almost nothing and today, they are big names with high and mighty works to their credits. Here are some of the successful brands owned by Anambra people.

Coscharis group

Coscharis group is one of the foremost brands in Nigeria and one that Anambra takes pride in. The conglomerate was founded by Cosmas Maduka, an eminent businessman and philanthropist from Nnewi. Nnewi has the highest concentration of billionaires in the state and so, is the richest town in Anambra. The company’s number one product is Coscharis motors. They also specialize in sectors like medical, engineering, communications, agriculture, and many others. It may interest you to know that the name Coscharis comes from a part of the founder’s name and that of his wife’s: Cosmas and Charity. The brand is worth around $500 million.

Innoson group

When you forget the meaning of the expression “think outside the box”, remember Innocent Chukwuma, the founder of this giant group. Innocent thought of a way to bring in more motorcycles into Nigeria instead of the usual 40 pieces in a 40-feet container back in the day. He thought to disassemble the motorcycles leaving the parts in pieces so the container would contain more than the usual number. This gave him profits upon profits. The business magnate hailed from Nnewi and that is also where the company’s headquarters is situated. We can boast of made-in-Nigeria cars all thanks to this group. About 70% of the auto parts are produced here while the remaining 30% is gotten from other countries. The company is known for its quality and great standards. They also manufacture plastics, tubes and tyres, motorcycles and the rest.

The name Arthur Eze is a household name in Nigeria and beyond. The oil mogul and philanthropist has raised his companies Atlas and Oranto to great heights. These sister companies owned by the billionaire gentleman sponsored the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2021 conference that was held in Senegal. Engr Arthur comes from a family of kings and he is the richest petroleum engineer in the country. He plays his game so well when it comes to business and collaboration.

Jezco group

I’m pretty sure you might have gone into a Jezco filling station to get a refill for your fuel, kerosene, gas, diesel or engine oil. Jezco oil has filling stations in so many parts of the state and beyond. Jezco group also has plazas to its name and again, they produce plastics.

Jezco Oil Nigeria Limited was founded by Sir Joseph EzeOkafor, a billionaire from Ekwulobia. He is also the father to the influential figure, Jowi Zaza, the current CEO of the company.

GUO Transport

With a fleet of vehicles heading to hundreds of destinations within and outside the country, the GUO Transport company has made a name for itself in the logistics world. Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke is the founder of the company. He had his first transportation “business” experience when he took his parents’ car to inspect their properties in Onitsha. This was in 1970 after the war. On coming back, some traders pleaded with him to drop them at Enugu for a pound each. He carried 8 people and dropped them at Ogbete and again, passengers begged him to transport them to Onitsha. Another 8 people went in for the same price and at Onitsha again, passengers begged that he dropped them at Enugu. That was the birthing of the idea behind this logistics group. In 1980, Chief Godwin kicked off the activities of this company and today, GUO Transport company is making Anambra proud. Chief Godwin is from Adazi-Ani.

New Age mobile concepts 

The New Age company is a leading name in mobile and communication in Nigeria. It has proven to worth its salt times without number. Ekene Kingsley Okpala, from Adazi-Ani, started this company in 2008. The young Anambra-born entrepreneur left everyone in jubilation when he gifted 53 people from his community with a million naira each. The company is the first of its kind in the country. Their products include power banks, chargers, batteries, Bluetooth speakers and earbuds and others.

Tonimas Group

Tonimas Group is a big name in the oil and petroleum sector. This brand has built a high reputation and name for itself since its inception in 1981. Late Chief Anthony Enukeme, the founder, made headways with his flagship firm, Tonimas filling station. A trait that makes this group stand firm is quality and high level of organization. Cubana Group

The hospitality group was on the lips of both young and old when Obi Cubana buried his mother in 2021. The funeral was one of a kind. In fact, it had the looks of a carnival. The Cubana group is a high-ranking brand in the Nigerian nightlife industry. They have restaurants, hotels, and clubs scattered around the country.
