Polytechnics and Monotechnic in Anambra State

Anambra state has a good number of higher institutions of learning within it. This shows that the state is not lacking when it comes to education. There are universities, polytechnics and colleges of education made available for the continuity of education of the citizens. There are three polytechnics and one monotechnic in Anambra state. These schools have produced well-known figures in society. Here are the polytechnics and monotechnic in Anambra state.
Federal Polytechnic, Oko

Federal Polytechnic, Oko is the only polytechnic owned by the federal government in the state. It is located in Oko, Orumba North local government area. The school was founded in 1979 when it was called the College of Arts, Science, and Technology. It was formerly owned by the state. In 1993, the ownership changed from state to federal government. Federal Polytechnic, Oko houses eight academic facilities. Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo is the Rector of this great institution. This citadel of learning has been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Nigeria. This institute offers programmes like diplomas, pre-degree, part-time, full-time, and others.
Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu

Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu is a state-owned polytechnic. The school is located in Awka North local government area, Anambra state. Anambra State Polytechnic (ANSPOLY) used to be known as Anambra State College of Agriculture. The Rector of this institution is Dr. Nneka Mefoh. This institution that started as a monotechnic has bloomed into a modern-day polytechnic. The change in the school was led by the former Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano in 2017. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has issued the institution the right to award the graduands with the National Diploma (ND) certificate.
National Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha

National Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha owe its origin to Nigeria’s former head of state, General Olusegun Obasanjo. The institute was to serve as an allied partnership between Nigeria and Germany. The idea was brought forward by the former General during an assembly of head of states in Jamaica in 1978 and the institute became established in 1981. This government-owned corporation serves under the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. The school is the only monotechnic in Anambra state.
Grundtvig Polytechnic, Oba

Grundtvig Polytechnic Oba is a private polytechnic owned by the Grundtvig Movement of Nigeria. The school received the licence to function as a private polytechnic in February 2019. The school is located in Oba, Idemili South local government area, Anambra state. The Rector of this great institution is Dr. A. Asolibe. This seat of learning was inspired by N.F.S Grundtvig, a Danish author, pastor, philosopher and teacher. There are other schools inspired by N.F.S Grundtvig that are scattered all over the world. The Grundtvig Movement of Nigeria brought this institute into the state.
