Following the existing social vices and menaces of trafficking, labour and abuse majorly targeted at children and unsuspecting citizens that are currently plaguing the nooks and crannies of the Nigerian society, The Network against child trafficking, abuse and labour (NACTAL) in collaboration with National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and Actions against trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants in Nigeria (A-TIPSOM) hosted a successful day one sensitization programme with stakeholders and non stakeholders to tackle child abuse, trafficking and labour at the Hilton leisure hotel in Awka, Anambra state.
The programme which was proudly sponsored by the European union EU and implemented by FIAPP featured various expertise in the field of anti-trafficking, volunteers and tacklers of this issue coming together to devise a solution to the problem like: The National vice president of NACTAL Mrs. Lilian Ezenwa, The state commander of NAPTIP Anambra chapter Mrs. Ibadin Judith Chukwu, Senior Project Officer of A-TIPSOM Mr. Joseph Sanwo, State coordinator of NACTAL Anambra state Eucheria Onyemaobi , Zonal coordinator NACTAL Mrs. Ijeoma Nnaji and many more.
In the opening speech, Eucheria Onyemaobi described child trafficking, labour and abuse as a modern day slavery that occurs as a result of illiteracy, ignorance and the current change in the trend of household responsibilities.

The vice president of NACTAL Mrs. Lilian Ezenwa who was the keynote speaker of the event emphasised the reasons why people fall victims to such vices. She pointed out that poverty, unemployment and illiteracy as the major forces that drive people to ignorantly indulge the sweet talks and lies of these traffickers.
The speakers of the event all advised the stakeholders, the parents, the Igwe of Omasi, his Royal Majesty Dr. Benjamin Okeji and the Igwe of Nzam, his Royal Highness Igwe Joseph Alotwu to join hands in assisting the organizations in delivering the anti-trafficking messages to the grassroots, to the children and everyone in their communities and towns.


The programme included interactive sessions and deliberations in a bid to solve the problem, addressing and answering questions that has posed a threat to their agenda.
The sensitization programme continues on Thursday the 24th of March and Friday the 25th of March 2022 with long walks to several communities on Thursday and visitation to schools in Anambra state on Friday to sensitize the students and communities on trafficking, child abuse, and labour.

NACTAL, NAPTIP and A-TIPSOM are determined to fight against trafficking and it’s associates as this sensitization and awareness programmes will be spread throughout the federation in a bid to reducing the rate of these menance and ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
