President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have made the request for land to be made available to him where he would build his retirement home lightheartedly during his recent working visit to Anambra state, but as Ndi Anambra, we have to take the request seriously. This is a good endorsement for Brand Anambra because I have not heard the President making similar requests in other states he has visited.

Knowing how government bureaucracy works, this request may not be taken seriously. The state has to move fast on it. The people I see playing various roles in actualizing the President’s wish include the Governor himself, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Commissioner for lands, and Anambra State Housing Development Corporation.

I also see real estate development companies playing a role. They can move quickly on this. They can partner with the state government in making available a befitting land in any of their estates for Mr President. They could charge for it or provide it for free. They will recover costs through the construction of the building and using the Presidential House to market their estate.

In Awka presently, the only estate that comes to mind that will be befitting is Chief Dr. Clem Nwogbo’s Awka Millennium City (AMC), an amazing smart city located in the heart of Awka. The estate is comparable to and bests even similar estates in Banana Island and Ikoyi, Lagos, Maitama in Abuja, etc.

For bragging rights, it won’t be such a bad idea to have a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria living in our beautiful state, away from all the Bourdillon Ikoyi stress. First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu wouldn’t mind this decision at all, because in her younger years, she was a regular visitor at Isuaniocha in Awka North local government area, when the late Igwe John Emebo (Igwe Alansaka) was married to her sister.
