HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS
Whenever mother’s day draws close, I always recall a certain book that glorifies and appraises mothers in society, the joy of motherhood by buchi Emecheta. The writer through the life of the protagonist Nnu Ego rightly revealed that the joys of motherhood might just be the sadness and pains that come from giving birth to and raising a child to adulthood.
People often wonder why mother’s day celebrations are daringly more popular as opposed to father’s days and why do children approach their mothers just to get a favour from their fathers. Let me tell you why.
The bond mothers share with their children can be compared to none. It begins from the fertilization of the egg down to the delivery day. According to the medical field, a woman undergoes labour pains which are equivalent to extreme menstrual cramps, extreme strong waves similar to diarrhea cramps, bad back pains, broken bones pains etc just to be a mother. This process of motherhood intensifies the bond which only grows stronger each passing moment and every second, minutes, hours, days, a month spent together. Eventually, the love grows and automatically a union of something deeper and stronger than friendship is formed between the mother and child.
Also, women’s overbearing kindness and love towards their children is a major quality that makes mothers day worth celebrating. Well, I’m sure we must have all heard the phrase “there is nothing like a praying mother” or people saying “I don’t know where I’d be if my mother doesn’t pray for me”. The love of a mother cannot be overemphasized that even God used a mother’s love for her child as an illustration in Isaiah 49:15 to let the people of Israel know how much he loves them.
This type of love can equally be seen in the female gender of animals like a hen who goes out of her ways to protect her chicks this earning the title “mother hen”. Mothers do often adopt this mother hen quality, especially when defending their children in times of distress and danger due to undetachable attachment they formed over time.
However, I will not dispute the fact that bad mothers do exist but the quantity of good mothers all over the world overrides the bad eggs. So celebrate your mother today as the world celebrates her, as anambranews.ng celebrates her. Celebrate her unending kindness, love, flaws etc. Celebrate the pains she underwent just to give you life, for distorting her body just to give birth to you, for the stretch marks she got after pregnancy. Fathers celebrate your wives, celebrate her support, her love, her food. Thank her today and make her feel special.
