Happy Fathers Day

Today is Father’s Day
Fathers are likened to the foundation upon which a strong home is built. They are the head of the home though many may choose to argue that, we cannot dispute the fact that the leadership position they uphold is laced with the burden of providing and protecting their homes and families. Their hard work, efforts, and discipline is sometimes unappreciated and undervalued in the world.
Father’s Day first began in the United States on June 19th, 1910 in the state of Washington to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary role Father play in the lives of their families. It was proposed by Sanora Dodd who wanted to observe a day of celebrating her father William Jackson Smart a civil war veteran who singlehandedly raised her and her five siblings. Later in 1972, the former US President Richard Nixon signed a declaration proclaiming every third Sunday of June as a day to honor our Fathers.
Why do we celebrate Father? The prominent American evangelist Billy Graham once said Father are one of the unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. Fathers are raised to be the provider, protectors, and role models, to give us strength when we have none left, to hide their tears, to work and care for everyone before themselves. Hence there is a need to appreciate their efforts and praise their maximum contributions.
