The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has assured that the party is fully prepared to take over Anambra State in the upcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election.

Ganduje made this assertion on Saturday during the commissioning ceremony of the newly acquired APC State Secretariat in Awka, where he emphasized that APC is set to make a significant political statement in the state.

“The caliber of aspirants we have in the APC today, along with the overwhelming support from our members, is proof that our party is ready to win Anambra. This election will not be like previous ones—we are bringing in fresh strategies and solid logistics to ensure victory,” Ganduje declared.

He further stated that Anambra, which has been under the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for years, is ripe for a political shift.

“We are fully committed to bringing Anambra into the mainstream of national politics. We must put an end to the idea that Anambra and APGA are inseparable. APC stands for progress, internal democracy, and national integration.”

Ganduje also addressed concerns over political marginalization in the Southeast, describing it as a self-inflicted problem due to the division of leadership among multiple parties.

“The Southeast has five states governed by four different political parties—how can you effectively negotiate for power at the center when your political strength is scattered? Our mission is to unify and strengthen the region under APC,” he said.

He noted that the party already has control of Imo and Ebonyi States and is now aggressively expanding its influence across the region, starting with Anambra.

“We are determined to consolidate our presence in the Southeast. Our plan is clear step by step, we will bring more states into the APC fold, beginning with Anambra in 2025.”

Encouraging party members and aspirants to intensify efforts at the grassroots level, Ganduje urged residents of Anambra to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, assuring them that APC’s victory would bring tangible benefits to the state.

Speaking at the event, Anambra APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended party aspirants for their dedication and contributions. However, he appealed to the national leadership for more support and resources, highlighting the need for stronger structures at the local level to enhance the party’s competitiveness in the upcoming election.

Several leading governorship aspirants, including Engr. JohnBosco Onunkwo, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, and Sir Paul Chukwuma, expressed their commitment to the party’s success. They collectively emphasized the need for unity, suggesting that a consensus candidate would be the best approach to securing victory.

It was also revealed that the newly inaugurated APC State Secretariat, located opposite the Anambra State Government House along Enugu-Onitsha Highway, was acquired through the efforts of Sir Paul Chukwuma, one of the leading aspirants. In addition to the secretariat, he has facilitated the establishment of APC offices across all 21 local government areas and 326 wards in the state.

With APC’s renewed focus and strategic plans, all eyes are now on the November 2025 governorship election, as the party seeks to disrupt APGA’s long-standing dominance in Anambra State.
