Transportation has been part of human life even before the means as we have them today became existent. We travel to different places at different times and for different reasons. So long as there is life, transportation stays. Anambra has blessed the world with quite a good number of transporters. Most of the leading names in the country’s transport sector are from Anambra. The transport companies not only serve the state but also the nation and even West Africa. These are some transport companies you probably didn’t know are owned by Anambra people.
GUO Transport

With a fleet of vehicles heading to hundreds of destinations within and outside the country, the GUO Transport company has made a name for itself in the logistics world. Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke is the founder of the company. He had his first transportation “business” experience when he took his parents’ car to inspect their properties in Onitsha. This was in 1970 after the war. On coming back, some traders pleaded with him to drop them at Enugu for a pound each. He carried 8 people and dropped them at Ogbete and again, passengers begged him to transport them to Onitsha. Another 8 people went in for the same price and at Onitsha again, passengers begged that he dropped them at Enugu. That was the birthing of the idea behind this logistics group. In 1980, Chief Godwin kicked off the activities of this company and today, GUO Transport company is making Anambra proud. Chief Godwin is from Adazi-Ani.
Young Shall Grow motors

Who would have thought that the mini bus which shuttled between Enugu and Onitsha would turn into numerous state-of-the-art vehicles reaching so many parts of Africa. That is the story of this transport company.
It all started in 1972 when Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Founder of this company had just left his job as a bus conductor and went to be a vulcanizer. He started building his company just within him with the experience he had gathered from the two jobs.
Growth came after he got a mini bus and transported people to Enugu and Onitsha. In 1973, he transferred his business from Onitsha to Lagos, the commercial capital of the country. He kept on increasing the number of his vehicles and covered more parts of the country.
Today, the company boasts of hundreds of vehicles with terminals in different parts of Nigeria and Africa.
Coscharis Motors

Coscharis Motors is a subsidiary of Coscharis group. Coscharis Group is one of the foremost brands in Nigeria and one that Anambra takes pride in. The conglomerate was founded by Cosmas Maduka, an eminent businessman and philanthropist from Nnewi. Nnewi has the highest concentration of billionaires in the state and so, is the richest town in Anambra. The company’s number one product is Coscharis motors.
Coscharis Motors not only deal on transport and logistics services, they also sell automobiles, and rent, and lease vehicles.
Chisco Transport

Pick any state you want to travel to from Abia to Zamfara, Chisco Transport has got you covered. Well, I mean Chisco Transport vehicles travel to the whole states in Nigeria. This company has been existing since 1978 when the Founder Chief Chidi Anyaegbu gave it a start. Chief Anyaegbu is also the Founder of Havila Air.
Chisco Transport is a subsidiary of the Chisco group. Their eyes are not set to just transport and logistics services, they are also on real estate, importation and exportation, hospitality, and others.
Chisco Transport didn’t grow big to where it is today overnight; the owner started by selling auto parts and kept on accumulating knowledge before he built this company. Chisco Transport has been in business for over forty years.
Izuchukwu Motors

Izuchukwu Motors is another popular transport company owned by an Anambra person. The owner of this company, Chief D.C Ubajaka hailed from Nnewi. Nnewi has been nicknamed the Japan of Africa. Nnewi, the town of Lords and billionaires. Chief Ubajaka ego was also called Okaka Anaedo built this company to what we have today.
In August 2021, the Managing Director of this company, Mr. Nonso Ubajaka, was made the President of the Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON). Sadly the world lost the Chairman of this group in December 2014.
Izuchukwu Motors continues to grow and expand by the day.
FG Onyenwe Motors

It is seemingly difficult for the average person to start a business especially in this part of the world; but Igbo people don’t seem to share in this faith. Maybe that is why they are so pronounced when it comes to the business world. They are zealous about what they do, that is how they go forward with their business every day.
FG Onyenwe Motors is one of the foremost transport brands in Nigeria. The Executive Director, Mr. Pascal Onwenwe has had a great eye for business even before he joined in his father’s company. His father established FG Onyenwe Motors in 1978. The business was tendered so well like a plant and it blossomed out. They got their first luxury bus in 1991 and today, they have so many vehicles plying the roads of the country and beyond.
In 2016, the company signed a multi-billion naira deal with Jetvan Automobiles for the supply of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter buses.
Ekesons Motors

Ekesons Motors is a household name in Nigeria’s transport sector. They are known to give high-quality services to their customers. The company has so many terminals across the country. They have turned their light to Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, and Abuja, the official capital. These are the most frequented destinations hence the increase in the number of terminals in the two bustling cities.
This company is a product of the graft and sweat of Chief Ojukwu Eugene Eke Nzom. He is the Founder of Ekesons group of companies. Ekesons Motors is a branch of Ekesons group.
