ANAMBRA TO HOST THE FIRST IGBO SPELLING BEE COMPETITION IN NIGERIA

The first Igbo spelling bee competition in Nigeria titled “Oka Nsupe Igbo” (Igbo Master Speller) is set to take place in Anambra state. The competition which is designed for junior and senior secondary school students in Nigeria is scheduled to hold from 13th to 14th May 2022. “Oka Nsupe Igbo” is the Igbo version of City Speller Bee, an initiative of Onitsha Business school which was created to promote the wide adoption of the Igbo language amongst the younger generation. The Yoruba, Hausa, and English versions will take place later in the year. This competition is part of a series of projects by Onitsha business school to discover young talents while creating an amplified atmosphere for the development of literary non-curricular activities among young people.
