LOVE, UNITY & TRADITION: Hon. Romanus Ibekwe Weds Pharm. Chidimma in Star-Studded Ceremony in Neni
Top government officials, mayors, traditional rulers, and dignitaries including Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, and Mayor of Njikoka Hon.Chinedu Ononiba, Hon Jude Akpua (House of Assembly Member Representing Njikoka Constituency 2 in Anambra State, Dr Henry Obiozor and many Others graced the colourful wedding celebration.
NENI, ANAMBRA STATE — The scenic town of Neni in Anaocha LGA was the center of joy and culture on Saturday, April 12, 2025, as Hon. Romanus Ibekwe, Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, wedded his heartthrob, Pharm. Chidimma Akuchukwu (née Chioma Okeke), in a grand ceremony that captured the essence of love, unity, and community leadership.
The event, which began with a solemn exchange of marital vows at St. John’s Catholic Church, Neni, was witnessed by a high-profile audience, including government functionaries, community leaders, clergy, and traditional rulers from across Anambra State.
Dr. Henry Obiozor, the Editor-in-Chief of AnambraNews.ng and a respected media and digital strategist, joined the Anambra media community in celebrating the union, describing the event as “a symbolic union of love and leadership.” According to him, “What we saw in Neni was not just a wedding, but a beautiful merger of public service and purpose.”
The former member of the House of Representatives for Anaocha, Dunukofia, and Njikoka Federal Constituency, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo (Onye Ndozi), played a special role as the chief sponsor of the wedding.
Others who graced the occasion include Hon. Chinedu Ononiba, Mayor of Njikoka; Hon. Jude Akpua, Member representing Njikoka Constituency 2 in the Anambra State House of Assembly; and Dr. Chibuike Ofobuike, Mayor of Aguata and Chairman of Anambra’s 21 LG Chairmen.
The state government was ably represented by Chief of Staff Ernest Ezeajughi, who delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, praising Hon. Ibekwe’s commitment to grassroots development and lauding his leadership character, now extended into family life.
The reception at White Castle Hotel, Neni, was a cultural spectacle, complete with traditional music, Igbo delicacies like nkwobi and ukwa , Continental dishes was also served to the large crowd that graced the occasion .
The bride, Pharm. Chidimma known for her community service and quiet strength, stole hearts with her poise and elegance, while the groom radiated confidence and humility in regal traditional attire.
Traditional blessings were bestowed by HRH Igwe Damian Ezeani, the traditional ruler of Neni, who prayed for the couple’s fruitfulness and enduring love.
Speaking at the event, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba said, “This is a moment of joy for all of us. Hon. Ibekwe is a man of vision and humility. I am confident he will build a home filled with peace, progress, and purpose.”
In his goodwill message, Dr. Henry Obiozor emphasized the strength of purposeful marriages rooted in shared values and vision. “If one can chase a thousand, two can chase ten thousand,” he quoted, encouraging the couple to remain united in love and service.
The presence of all 21 mayors of Anambra’s LGAs further signaled the respect Hon. Ibekwe enjoys among his peers, while the colourful event reaffirmed Neni’s place as a host of cultural hospitality and communal pride.
